Cyber security: assurance, resilience, response - Reform Conference, 16 July 2015, London

Date:
Thursday, 16 July, 2015 - 00:00 CET

Digital technologies offer great promise for business innovation and transformation of government and public services.
The flip-side are the opportunities for fraud and crime that come with it. Vulnerabilities in software and careless, unaware or even malicious employees are among the risks that all digitally enabled organisations must be alive to. Such risks challenge the public’s trust in digital services. Security technologies such as two-step verification and data tagging facilitate digital working and may improve trust in digital services. However, organisations must also ensure that they have appropriate resilience measures in place to deter data breaches and other cyber threats; while Government must ensure a proper detection and enforcement regime for addressing cybercrime.

The conference will consider how security technologies can be applied to enable digital transformation, explore the risk management and resilience measures public institutions and businesses must have in place, and whether the UK has the appropriate detection, intelligence and control capabilities to respond to cyber threats.
